Gifts for Gothic Book Lovers: Dracula, Frankenstein and Edgar Allan Poe
Share
Buying a gift for a book lover sounds easy until you realise they already own most of the books you were thinking of getting them. And probably have a firm opinion about their favourite edition, too.
If your person loves vampires, haunted castles and stories that leave them just a little unsettled, I have a few suggestions. Here at Jenny Meadow, those are some of our favourite things to create around.
I’ve picked out seven gifts inspired by Dracula, Frankenstein and Edgar Allan Poe. There are books to explore, something creative to try, and a few things they can wear or use long after Halloween.
For the Friend Who Loves Dracula
You probably know the one. They’re always ready for another vampire story, and a mysterious castle sounds like somewhere they’d quite like to visit.
These are the gifts I’d start with.
1. Dracula: An Illustrated Gothic Classic
If your friend enjoys looking at the artwork in a book as much as reading it, I’d suggest our illustrated Dracula.
I adapted and illustrated this edition to give readers an accessible way into Bram Stoker’s story, with pictures that bring its characters and settings to life. It’s a lovely option for someone who knows Dracula mainly through films and wants to discover more of the story. Of course, there’s also something enjoyable about seeing a familiar favourite illustrated in a different way.
I’d choose this for: Someone who loves illustrated books or has been meaning to give Dracula a try.

2. Dracula Colouring Book
Does your friend like to have something creative to do while listening to music or an audiobook? Our Dracula colouring book might be more their thing.
You can spend an evening working on one page, or just pick out a few details to colour when you have a little time. I like the idea of letting the reader decide how this world should look. Deep reds and midnight blues? Soft antique colours? It’s entirely up to them.
Add a set of coloured pencils and you have a gift they can start enjoying straight away. There’s no need to finish a page in one sitting, either.
I’d choose this for: A creative friend who enjoys vampire stories and a quiet evening at home.

3. Vampire Fangs Shirt
For the friend who would happily wear their love of vampires, I’d go with the mouth and fangs design.
It’s bold, a little playful, and easy to wear with jeans. You don’t need a whole Halloween outfit when a shirt already sets the mood. It would work just as well for a casual evening watching vampire films.
This would also be a fun one to pair with either of the Dracula books if you’re putting together a slightly bigger gift.
I’d choose this for: The vampire fan who likes a statement shirt.

For Someone Who Has a Soft Spot for Frankenstein
There’s a lot more to Frankenstein than a frightening creature. If you’ve read Mary Shelley’s novel, you’ll know how much loneliness and sadness there is in it, too.
For a friend who loves the book, I’d choose something with a clear connection to Shelley’s story. These two would be my picks.
4. Frankenstein “The Modern Prometheus” Sweatshirt
This is the one I’d suggest for someone whose idea of a good evening involves a comfortable sweatshirt and a book they’ve been looking forward to.
The design includes Mary Shelley’s name, The Modern Prometheus and the novel’s 1818 publication date. Those little literary details are part of what makes it a thoughtful choice for a fan of the original story.
Before ordering, have a look at the size chart. If the gift is a surprise, comparing the measurements with a sweatshirt they already like can help.
I’d choose this for: A Mary Shelley fan who loves cosy clothing with a bookish connection.

5. Vintage-Style Frankenstein Mug
If you’re unsure about clothing sizes, a mug makes things much easier.
Our vintage-style Frankenstein mug would be a nice addition to a reading corner or a desk. I’d pair it with the recipient’s favourite tea, coffee or hot chocolate. It’s a simple way to make the present feel a little more personal without having to put together an elaborate gift basket.
And if you’re buying a small thank-you gift for a book-club friend, this is one I’d keep in mind.
I’d choose this for: Someone who always has a warm drink beside their book.

For the Edgar Allan Poe Admirer
With Poe fans, I’d start by finding out which poem or story they love most. Some will immediately say The Raven. Others will tell you exactly why The Tell-Tale Heart stayed with them.
Choosing something connected to that favourite is a small detail, but it shows you’ve paid attention.
6. Nevermore Sweatshirt with Sleeve Details
For someone who loves The Raven, this Nevermore sweatshirt would be my choice.
Take a look at the sleeves as well as the front. The extra printing is a lovely part of this design, especially for someone who enjoys clothing with details you notice gradually.
I can picture this being worn for a bookshop visit, a coffee with a friend or a quiet Sunday spent reading. It doesn’t need to be saved for October.
I’d choose this for: A poetry lover who would enjoy wearing a little Poe throughout the year.

7. The Tell-Tale Heart Tote Bag
We all know someone who takes a book everywhere, just in case. This is the gift I’d suggest for them.
Our Tell-Tale Heart tote gives a nod to one of Poe’s most unsettling stories while being useful for library trips, book-club evenings and everyday outings. It comes in different sizes, so check the measurements to choose the one that best suits what your friend usually carries.
You could even tuck a book inside, along with a note explaining why you thought they’d enjoy it.
I’d choose this for: The Poe fan who never seems to have enough room in their bag for all their books.

Still Not Sure Which to Choose?
I’d think about what your friend actually enjoys doing.
If they love artwork, start with the illustrated book. If they’re happiest making something, try the colouring book. If they already own all their favourite stories, a mug, sweatshirt or tote lets you give them something different while keeping that personal connection.
You don’t have to buy several things to make it thoughtful. One well-chosen gift, with a little note saying why it reminded you of them, can be plenty.
And if you have a birthday or Christmas date in mind, do check the current production and delivery estimates before ordering. It’s always nicer to have the present ready before you need to wrap it!
